Case reference: MAID-XX-2026-739S · Province not stated in sources · MAID raised by others; not requested · Recorded by the register as a MAID victim

Who she is

She is the mother of the disabled Canadian who posts on X as @macaghalla. Her name has not been made public. She had asked for a cognitive assessment because she was worried about her own symptoms.

What happened

On 28 September 2026 her daughter wrote that her mother’s doctor “literally said those words to her when she asked for a cognitive test because she was worried about symptoms. He suggested #MAiD before he discussed the MoCA.” The daughter added that raising MAID that way “is not illegal.”

Why they were pushed toward MAID

A patient asking for a memory screen was met with a death option before the test itself. That is MAID raised by a clinician, not requested by the patient.

What her daughter says

“I’ll preemptively tell you that you’re wrong. That’s not illegal,” the daughter wrote to someone denying that clinicians raise MAID unprompted.

What this case shows

A mother worried about her mind asked for a cognitive test and was offered MAID before the MoCA. Her case shows how casually death is raised with older patients seeking ordinary assessment.
