Colorado Democrats Kill Jail Time for Child Rapists

Four Colorado Democrats just proved once again that some politicians care more about coddling child rapists than protecting kids.
The Bill They Killed
They blocked Senate Bill 26-111 — the “Protections Against Child Rape” bill — which would have done the most basic, common-sense thing imaginable:
Require actual jail time for convicted child rapists.
- No more slap-on-the-wrist probation
- No more letting monsters walk free after raping kids
- No more legal loopholes
This bill would have forced indeterminate prison sentences for:
- Class 3 felony sexual assault on a child
- Class 4 felony sexual assault on a child
- Cases involving predators in positions of trust
Straight to the Department of Corrections. No probation. No exceptions.
What They Did
On March 18, 2026, these Democrats voted to:
Kill the bill in committee.
- Senate Judiciary Committee
- 4–3 party-line vote
- Postponed indefinitely
- Dead on arrival
Gone.
The Filthy Four
- Adrienne Benavidez
- Nick Hinrichsen
- Katie Wallace
- Mike Weissman
Pattern of Protection
This wasn’t a one-off.
This is the third year in a row similar bills have been killed in committee by Colorado Democrats.
For three straight years, they’ve chosen the same outcome:
Keep the door open for child rapists to get probation instead of prison.
Let That Sink In
Right now in Colorado:
- A large portion of convicted child sex offenders can still receive probation
- Repeat harm doesn’t automatically mean prison
- Predators can walk free
And these politicians are fighting to keep it that way.
The Question Nobody Wants to Answer
Why?
Why do they fight harder to protect rapists than to protect children?
This isn’t reform.
This is protection of predators.
The Bottom Line
Colorado parents are furious.
People are watching.
And these names should follow these politicians into every election:
Adrienne Benavidez.
Nick Hinrichsen.
Katie Wallace.
Mike Weissman.

Name them. Shame them. Vote them out.
